The transformation of Paphos

Projects are in full progress on the Pafos beach front

Two projects are progressing at an intensive pace on the Pafos coastal front of the land area of the Kato Pafos harbour and on the western front from Kastro to the boundary of the municipality of Pafos with the community of Chloraka.

According to the Municipality of Pafos, this project, which exceeds 7.5 million euros, includes the completion of the network of footpaths surrounding the Municipality of Pafos, the protection and promotion of areas of exceptional natural environment, since part of the project will be constructed within the Special Conservation Area and Special Protection Area of the Natura 2000 network - Kato Pafos Lighthouse.

Furthermore, the project will protect and enhance cultural features that are part of the study area, such as the Medieval Castle, the Paphos Archaeological Park and the Archaeological Site of the Tombs of the Kings, while at the same time contributing to the improvement of the existing pedestrian walkway that starts at the Medieval Castle Square and reaches the beach of Faros, which is already used by a significant number of tourists/visitors.

In addition, as reported by the Municipality of Paphos, the project of upgrading the urban equipment and infrastructure in the area surrounding the wider port basin in Paphos Port, with a total value of €1,747,710.10 including VAT, is also underway.

The project concerns the supply and installation of new urban equipment along the beach, the repair and upgrading of infrastructure in the area of the Castle and the Harbour, the maintenance of the "Fisherman's Café", the maintenance and restoration of the facades of the shades, planting and landscaping in the area.

Both projects are co-funded by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund 2014-2020 and the Municipality of Paphos.
