The possibilities of communication in the new age

We have now surpassed the stage of digital transformation in the services and products provided, as we are moving into the period of their intelligent reconstruction by artificial intelligence.

The possibilities of communication in the era of the 4th industrial revolution, with the development of artificial intelligence applications and the unprecedented changes they entail were discussed in an online event organized on Tuesday 28 March by the Marketing LAB research laboratory and the postgraduate program in Digital Marketing, of the University Neapolis Paphos

According to a related announcement, the keynote speaker at the event was Mr. Panagiotis Kakolyris, CEO and Director of Strategy at Socialdoo and member of the Board of Directors of the European Network of Political Institutions (ENOR), who, among other things, said that "technological developments will free the dynamism and talent of communications people and will change the way the industry evolves."

Overall, he estimated that we have now surpassed the stage of digital transformation in the services and products provided, as we are moving into the period of their intelligent reconstruction by artificial intelligence.

Mr. Kakolyris also referred to the importance of the necessary institutional framework of principles that should be created and enforced in order to ensure that the great benefits of artificial intelligence will not create challenges and threats from their distorted use.

Afterwards, Dr. Antonis Zairis, Assistant Professor in Business Administration-Marketing and Head of International Cooperation and Professional Certifications at the University of Neapolis Paphos, as well as Vice-President of the Business & Retail Association of Greece (SELPE), took the floor, who clarified, among other things, that the new digital age brought fundamental and unprecedented changes both in people's daily habits and in their purchasing behavior.

He also added that the adoption of new communication practices such as in the context of digital Marketing is now a necessity as they are directly linked to the very competitiveness of Businesses. Finally, he explained that customers use the internet, which no longer has borders, for too many hours a day and therefore the best targeting and approach from the Business side is ensured.

The discussion was moderated by Dr. Sofia Daskou, Associate Professor in Business and Customer Management, Coordinator of the master's degree in Digital Marketing and President of the Marketing LAB laboratory of the University of Neapolis Pafos, who referred to the evolution of the purpose of marketing communications that took place in the last 100 years but also in applications of artificial intelligence in creating and disseminating message and information.

Dr. Daskou presented the trends in written marketing communication and in particular in email, website and social media environments. It presented the modern best practices of written communication as made possible by the technological developments brought about by the 4th industrial revolution.

The presentations were followed by a discussion between the speakers in which the audience also participated, with comments and questions.
