Pafos' reputation in 2022 is favourable across all sectors of the economy
Paphos presented a positive image in 2022 in the pioneer sectors of its economy, the tourism industry as well as the land development and construction industry sector, according to Marinos Stylianou - Secretary/Director of EBE Paphos.
In his statements to KYPE, Mr. Stylianou stated that 2022 was a very good year for the city's economy despite the unfavorable situations that preceded it and which continue to affect us negatively.
According to Mr. Stylianou in 2022 Paphos had very good occupancy rates in its hotels mainly due to the increase in the arrivals of British tourists and it is presented as a very important year of recovery of the tourism industry since Paphos managed to reach about 85% of arrivals and about 90% of the income of the year 2019.
At the same time, the catering sector, which is directly intertwined with tourism, managed to reach very good levels, he added.
He also pointed out that significant mobility was also recorded in the real estate sector in the province of Paphos, as it appears from the relevant data of the Land Registry, a significant increase was observed in the filing of sales documents in 2022 compared to 2021.
Sales also moved to fairly high numbers, while buyers inside and outside the EU have also increased, he added.
This, according to Mr. Stylianou, is reflected both in the total number of transactions (3,593) and in their total value, which amounted to €890.4 million. At the same time, he said, the fact that the province of Paphos managed to absorb approximately 1/3 of the total transactions involving residential units.
Finally, services moved to satisfactory levels, while trade, and especially supermarkets, also moved to very good levels, he concluded.
