Min. Consumer Protection: Investigate the installation of solar panels

The total amount of the investment covered by the Scheme is up to €5,000

Appropriate market research is necessary to make the best possible choice for each consumer to install photovoltaic systems, the Consumer Protection Service of the Ministry of Energy states in its announcement today, giving advice to consumers who have received or are expected to receive pre-approval for participation in the new category "Photovoltaics for All" of the Grant Scheme to encourage the use of RES and E.E.

It is noted that as already announced by the Management Committee of the Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and Energy Savings (EX.E) Fund, the computerization of the application evaluation process for "CATEGORY A3: Photovoltaics for All" of the "Sponsorship Plan for encouraging the use of Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Saving in homes 2024-25" and the pre-approvals have been sent to applicants.

It is added that the Department of Energy, Trade and Industry's Consumer Protection Service reminds consumers who have received or are expected to receive pre-approval to conduct the required market research so that they can make the most beneficial choice.

In this direction, the announcement continues, it is noted that the price should not be the only criterion, since special importance should be given to the performance of the photovoltaic system and its other technical specifications.

It is reported that since the Scheme lists a large number of participating merchants, many alternative options are offered to consumers, and therefore appropriate market research is necessary to make the best possible choice for each consumer.

It is reminded that the total amount of the investment covered by the Scheme is up to €5,000 and that any expenditure beyond this amount should be paid by the applicant directly to the participating merchant.

Finally, consumers are asked to take into account that there is a wide variation in prices and that systems are available on the market within the amount covered by the aid.
