The finance minister has the authority to decide on the removal of anomalies and the resolution of problems that may arise

The Ministry of Finance provides an update on the wage growth of low-wage workers in the public sector.

In a circular posted on its website, the ministry states that with effect from 1.1.2024, permanent employees and permanent employees of the state service with scales A2, A5 and A7, will progress in salary within the combined scales, when their salary in the lower scale corresponds to the initial step of the next scale. That is, they will advance from the A2 scale to A5, after joining the 7th step of A2 and completing four months of service.

They will then advance to the A7 scale, after joining the 8th step of the A5 scale and completing seven months of service.

Permanent employees with scales A2, A5 and A7(ii), will have the right to join the scale A7(ii) upon completing 18 years of service in the same position in the combined scales A2, A5 and A7(ii), taking into account any previous consecutive of his employment as a permanent employee to perform the duties of the position to which he was appointed in combined scales A2, A5 and A7(ii).

As emphasized in the circular signed by the general director of the Ministry of Finance, Giorgos Pantelis, the finance minister has the authority to decide on the removal of anomalies and the resolution of problems that may arise.

It is noted that corresponding arrangements will also be adopted for the employees of the wider public sector, including local self-government authorities, through their respective budgets.

It is recalled that the relevant agreement was signed between PASYDY, OHO-SEK and the Ministry of Finance, in mid-December.

The agreement was not signed on behalf of SIDIKEK-PEO, which disagreed with the non-advancement of employees in the A1-2-5 scales.
