In addition to travel allowances, allowances for absence away from home in Cyprus have also been reduced.
The Department of Public Administration and Personnel (TDDP) announced the revision of travel and absence allowances.
In her circular , the director of the TTDP, Elena Oikonomidou Azina, states that the flat-rate travel allowances paid to hourly staff are revised from 1.1.2024.
The allowances are reduced by 5%, while the revision also adds new categories of road allowances for hybrid and electric saloon cars.
For gasoline-powered saloons, the reduction is 6%, for diesel-powered saloons it reaches 19.45%, while for diesel-powered vans or hatchbacks, the reduction is 11.72%.
Trips for motorcycle use are reduced by 0.28%.

The maximum overnight allowance in a hotel with breakfast in Limassol, Nicosia and Famagusta is reduced to €80.75 from €85 for employees with a scale up to A13 (Ii) and to €99.75 from €105 for employees with a scale above A14 (ii) and above. For Larnaca and Paphos, the maximum overnight hotel allowance with breakfast is reduced to €66.50 from €70 for employees with a scale up to A13 (Ii) and to €90.25 from €95 for employees with a scale above A14 (ii) and above.
