The number of business entities registered in the registers of the tax authorities has decreased

The number of business entities registered in the registers of the tax authorities showed a decrease in June, compared to the corresponding period of 2022, but also of 2021.

According to the data released by the companies branch of the companies and intellectual property tax department, the total number of registered companies fell to 196,303 from 205,555 in the corresponding month of 2022.

In June 2021, the total number of registered companies had risen to 217,941.

Registered cooperatives showed a decrease, falling to 5,919 from 6,158 last June and 6,652 in June 2021.

There was a slight increase in the total number of registered foreign companies, reaching 1,236 from 1,223 last year and 1,214 in June 2021.

In terms of the total number of registered European companies, these decreased to 15, from 16 in June 2022 and 17 in the same month of 2021.

Registered European public interest groups increased to 12 from 11 in the previous two years.

The total number of registered trade names increased to 46,789 from 45,312 in June 2022 and 43,676 in June 2021.

Increases in companies during the semester

For the January-June 2023 half, the figures show a slight increase in registered companies, reaching 6,165 from 6,142 in the same period in 2022.

During the first half of 2021, registered companies reached 5,966.

Registered cooperatives fell to 55 in the half year from 56 in the corresponding period last year and 58 in 2021.

A decrease was also recorded in registered foreign companies to 27 in the months of Jan.-June. 2023 from 35 in the same months of 2022 and 45 in the same period of 2021.

As far as European companies are concerned, the first of the year was recorded in June 2023, while based on the data of the tax office of companies, no corresponding ones were recorded in the previous two years.

Brand registrations fell to 1,011 for the first half of 2023 from 1,013 in the corresponding period of 2022 and 1,131 in 2021.
