Employment in Cyprus is showing an increase, as are working hours, according to data announced by the Statistical Service.
The total number of workers employed during the fourth quarter of 2022 is estimated at 461,345 people, of which 410,634 are employees and 50,711 are self-employed.
Compared to the corresponding quarter of 2021, total employment increased by 3%.
The most significant percentage increases were observed in the areas of Information and Communication, Accommodation and Catering Services Activities, Professional, Scientific and Technical Activities and Administrative and Support Activities.
In terms of actual working hours for the fourth quarter of 2022, they are estimated at 211,235 thousand, with an increase of 3.5% compared to the corresponding quarter of 2021.
The most important percentage increases were observed in the sectors of Accommodation Services and Catering Services, of Information and Communication, Professional, Scientific and Technical Activities and Administrative and Support Activities.
